Our Story · Chapter 04 of 8
A movement around the world
New mints, new coins, and the dinar back in use for zakat.
I
Kelantan and Sulu
The state of Kelantan in Malaysia and the Sultanate of Sulu issued gold dinars of their own.
II
Zakat in real value
Zakat must be settled in 'ayn - real, present value - not in dayn, a debt. A dinar or a dirham is 'ayn; a banknote is a promise.
“Zakat must be settled in 'ayn, settlement in dayn is not valid.”
Imam Abu Bakr al-Kasani
